Welcome to Rigg Stories Dot Com
I said I wouldn't shave my head until it was ready.
Not that I can see much of a difference. Bald is bald, after all; but a promise is a promise.
I'm just like everyone else.
At some point we all say, "I should have a Web site," or "I should host a podcast," or "I should finally reconfigure that nucleotide."
Well, while I do own a very nice podcasting set, and I have a full laboratory complete with a fissionable materials locker, it wasn't until a friend and colleague named Ryan Berry opened my eyes to the wonderful world of plug-and-chug Web building.
While this site is produced with SquareSpace, my very first Web site was done the hard way. I learned html, pieced together a front and two pages. I had animated flashy things and buttons. It was called "The Right Brain Corridor," and well...
I realized it was pointless.
Despite the fact I had an actual need to have my own Web site—at the time I was a fledgling short story author and seller of my own art—I never really applied myself. I kept thinking, "Everybody has their own site and most of them don't do anything." It was the age of the Ally McBeal "Dancing Baby" gif craze, and 'Net Junk was everywhere. I decided I wouldn't be a contributor until A) I had something more to say, 2) Web building technology became more commonplace, or Thirdly) I knew how to make a proper alpha-numeric bullet list.
And so it has. And so I have. And so say we all.
I have a goal to e-publish my latest novel by 2014 (currently aiming for Holiday, 2013). I have an additional goal to produce a Transmedia project next year and to work on releasing my novel as an audiobook. And, I'd really like to find some work that will allow me to explode with creative fervor, either through writing, voice acting or photo design. That's why I play the lottery.
And that's why riggstories.com was born.
Now you know. I hope you enjoy the site. I hope you come back again and again, and I hope you contribute. The aforementioned Transmedia project will need your input to work. It's going to be a lot of fun, and I really look forward to entertaining you with it.
Until then, live long and prosper... and may the Force be with you.
PS -- If you return to riggstories.com often (and I hope you do), you can look forward to The Musings growing with blog entries, media reviews, satire, humorous anecdotes, images and up-to-date news about my various projects. Feel free to CONTACT ME any time if you have ideas you'd like to share or something you'd like to see.
